New world species are distinguished from the old world ones of Africa and Asia by certain features of appearance and size. Each species is characterized by a set of unique features. These primates feed on flower, grass, leaves, nuts, roots, insects, birds’ eggs, frogs, and lizards. New World primates are smaller in size, and they have characteristic flat noses with outwardly projected nostrils separated by a wide septum. Most New World primates have long prehensile tails, which are used as additional limbs. Old World species either have less developed tails or no tails at all.
