The new world species are small to medium-sized. They have wide circular nostrils and long tails, which are prehensile or semi-prehensile. They do not have cheek pouches and buttock pads. Family groups, multi-male groups and one-male groups comprise the three kinds of social groups. Old World primates are larger than New World primates. They are mostly arboreal, but some species can spend a lot of time on the ground. New World primates are exclusively arboreal and almost never descend to the ground.
